Have you heard of @visiteden's historic Thompson's Point Baths? 😯 Almost invisible from sea level, this lovely #pool used to be a popular #swimming spot from the early 1900s through to the 1960s! It's Eden's oldest ocean pool and the southernmost #OceanPool in NSW! 💦 In its heyday, Thompson's Point Baths was deeper and had an access bridge. Please note that the pool is now only accessible at low tide around the rocks from #EdenWharf, and its shallow depth means it's not generally suitable for swimming, but it remains an awesome piece of history! BEOWA NATIONAL PARK. 💙 #BenBoydNationalPark has officially been renamed #BeowaNationalPark, meaning ‘orca’ or ‘killer whale’ in #Thaua language recognising the Aboriginal cultural heritage of the area. The name #Beowa celebrates the important connection between the park’s coastline and the spiritual lives of its first inhabitants, as well as their beliefs and cultural practices associated with the ocean, in particular orcas. The new name for the park was chosen through an extensive consultation process with more than 60 representatives from the Aboriginal and South Sea Islander community.

The wild landscapes of the #SapphireCoastNSW are breathtaking. 😯 The headland #Murunna north of #Bermagui is a sacred site for the Yuin people, and corroborees were held on top of the headland for thousands of years. A formation in the cliff behind the sea stack looks like a woman’s head. The Yuin people believed that this woman warns people to stay away from the water, which can have a dangerous rip. Mother and bub southern right whales on the #SapphireCoastNSW. 🥰 Endangered #SouthernRightWhales are usually the first to get here, arriving in winter and resting behind the breakers on #SapphireCoast beaches. They are easily recognisable by their smooth back (no dorsal fin), white markings (callosities) and bulky shape. 🐳 Their callosity patterns are unique to each individual, and can be used like a fingerprint for scientists to track their migratory patterns, much of which still remains mysterious. The magical waters of #PambulaRiverMouth. 🙌 Did you know that some of the best-preserved mounded middens in @australia are located along #Pambula River, containing the shells of oysters and mussels collected by Aboriginal people more than 4000 years ago? 🦪 These middens range in size from approximately 1m high to the size of a football field. 😯 #SeversBeach and the surrounding area have been traditionally used as ceremonial and camping grounds and is a particularly significant place for women.
