biamanga national park

A SACRED LANDSCAPE

Biamanga National Park is a culturally significant area that is jointly managed by local Aboriginal people and the NPWS. The park is filled with dramatic landscapes, forest and wildlife and is a great place to take a picnic and soak up the splendour of the natural surroundings.

Mumbulla Falls is a sacred Aboriginal site located within at Biamanga Cutural Area. A 225m boardwalk leads to a viewing platform over the falls, where water cascades through a dramatic gorge and granite boulder field. This is part of the legacy of an ancient shield volcano in the area, and the story of its Aboriginal heritage is conveyed through interpretive signs and an information shelter. The Aboriginal custodians request that visitors, through respect, do not swim in the Mumbulla Falls area.

The paved picnic area at the beginning of the walk has free gas barbecues, toilets and shaded areas to enjoy lunch while you soak up the serene ambience and explore the interpretative signage. The forest setting is beautiful, and you can see eastern water dragons sunning themselves on rocks, colourful azure kingfishers and blue wrens flitting about their day.
