OYSTER SHUCK SCHOOL AND FARM TOUR IN PAMBULA


Did you know that unopened oysters stay fresh for up to twelve days after harvest if stored correctly? All the more reason to learn how to shuck them yourself! Learn from the best at Broadwater Oysters' Oyster Shuck School on Pambula Lake, a fun activity best enjoyed on a sunny day with your mates or significant other. After learning the art of the shuck, you can settle in by the lake and enjoy a local produce and oyster tasting plate. 


For an immersive oyster experience, join the team for a Farm Tour where you will learn about the oyster journey from spat to harvest, including Broadwater Oysters’ award-winning farming and aquaculture practices. The team will help you collect and shuck your own oysters, followed by a taste testing of course. 


If you're short on time, you can drop into Broadwater Oysters to pick up a dozen to take home or enjoy in the picnic area.

GUIDED OUTDOOR ADVENTURES WITH NAVIGATE EXPEDITIONS


Navigate Expeditions is a new nature-based tour company on the Sapphire Coast, offering  immersive and regenerative travel experiences for the environmentally conscious traveller. Join one of their small group tours in our spectacular national parks, venturing to some of the most beautiful coastline and forests of the region. 


Their signature 10km Echidna Trails Kangarutha Hike explores the pebbly beaches, sandy bays, pockets of rainforest and rugged clifftops of Bournda National Park, including a gourmet lunch and swimming opportunities along the way. 


Their Forest meets the Sea tour weaves through the forests and coast from Middle Beach to Bithry Inlet in Mimosa Rocks National Park, with opportunities to encounter wildlife including eastern grey kangaroos, swans and whales (in season). 


Navigate Expeditions also partner with Tanja Lagoon Camp to provide exclusive canoeing tours and multi-day Sapphire Coast Nature Immersion packages, including walking, canoeing, biking, yoga, cultural experiences, an oyster tour and delicious meals prepared with local produce.

WHARF TO WHARF WALK


Wharf to Wharf Walk is a new multi-day coastal walk, stretching from Merimbula Wharf to  Tathra Wharf along the spectacular coastline of Bournda National Park and surrounds. The walk explores rugged cliffs, spectacular headlands, secluded bays, lakes, freshwater lagoons and long, isolated beaches, making it a popular walking route for coast lovers, nature enthusiasts and photographers. 


At 27 kilometres, the walk can be undertaken as an overnight hike, a day hike, or a series of short walks. Camping sites can be booked at Hobart Beach Campground, or accommodation can be arranged in Merimbula or Tathra with the option to utilise car shuffles along the walk.


Wharf to Wharf Walk is a community project, and there is the opportunity to participate in the Atlas of Life in the Coastal Wilderness citizen science project during the hike.

Look no further than The Wool Shed, a heritage shearing shed now transformed to offer special long table events centred around produce grown and raised on their working farm. Located approximately 40-minutes from Merimbula in the beautiful Towamba Valley, this farm-to-table experience combines good food and candid conversation for a memorable small-group experience.


Make sure you book your place early as these special events usually sell out well in advance.

GUIDED SNORKELLING TOUR IN EDEN


Join Dive Eden for a guided snorkelling tour in Eden, encountering magical seagrass gardens, vibrant sea life and pristine marine environments. Explore pristine shallow bays and beaches, with the opportunity to encounter seahorses, octopus and nudibranchs. Dive Eden’s professional SSI accredited guides will show you all the best spots and offer you their local tips and knowledge, helping you to better understand the local environment for an immersive underwater adventure. 


Tours include all equipment and tuition, usually taking place on weekday afternoons and some weekends. If you’re up for a bigger underwater adventure, Dive Eden offers guided scuba diving, as well as scuba diving certification courses and freediving courses.
