Going Down - Cult Film Screening
Going Down is a dark, hilarious odyssey through pulsating Sydney in the 1980s as four young women spend their last night together. Karli (Tracy Mann) is going to New York the next morning and their youth is ending in a girls night out they'll never forget. The film stars Tracy Mann (Sleeping Beauty, Sweet and Sour, Top End Wedding) Vera Plevnik (Monkey Grip), David Argue (Gallipoli, Razorback, BMX Bandits) and Esben Storm (Round The Twist).
The girls night out to end them all. Four friends roar out of the standard share house into the pool rooms, drag shows and bars of the city before crash-landing in Bondi. It's the night before Karli goes to New York and the lives of this tight knit group will change tonight - forever.
Described as "one of the first films to show the world the true gritty underside of Australian life", Going Down is a fascinating time capsule of Sydney in the early 1980s and a landmark of independent Australian filmmaking that deserves to be rediscovered.
Join them at Headland Theatre for this special screening of a genuine cult classic. Recently restored in stunning 4K and re-released to a new generation of audiences, the film remains as fresh, funny and vital as ever.
The screening will be followed by a question and answer with Tracy Mann.
