Oaklands Trail Rides

Explore Oaklands Farm on horseback with an experienced and supportive guide. All levels of horsemanship are welcome, even if you’ve never ridden before, but you must be over 8 years of age.

Oakland’s trail rides last for 1.5 hours, and bookings are essential. Please phone 6495 7257 to book or enquire about group discounts.

Cost: $60 per person. Group discounts available.

Younger children aged between 2 and 7 years can still have an experience in the saddle. Short, led rides are available for $5. No bookings necessary, tickets are available at the garden centre.

NB: The animal nursery may be closed on weekdays during school terms. Please phone ahead and ask about opening hours to avoid disappointment.

Staples Riding School

Staples riding school offers one hour trial rides through bushland for adults and children over 7 years of age. Located at Wolumla 14 km north of Merimbula.

Wolumla Horse Riding Adventures

Be it an overnight trail ride or a riding lesson in the round yard, you will get a 360 degree view of the Bega Valley when you climb in the saddle at Wolumla Horse Riding Adventures.

The ranch is located in the middle of the beautiful Bega Valley between the picturesque village of Candelo and the old gold mining village of Wolumla.

There is a wide range of riding activities including:

  • Tailored lessons for children and adults
  • Saddle day camps for kids aged 6 and up (10am to 3pm)
  • Pony rides for the littlies under 6
  • Trail rides for 1.5, 2 hours or 5 hours.
  • Overnight camp outs and scheduled trips to the Snowy Mountains where you can spot brumbies.
  • Jackaroo and Jillaroo School, holiday programs.
