Nelsons Beach & Lagoon

Nelson’s lagoon and surf beach are short stroll through the spotted gum forests that make Mimosa Rocks National Park so iconic.

The flat waters of the lagoon are great for a paddle and it’s shores a re popular places for migrating sea birds, such as Little Terns, in spring. Good fishing can be found on either headland, the beach or the lagoon.

You can also walk here from Tathra, via Moon Bay and Wajurda Point.

Look for echidnas, wallabies and goannas, spot dolphins, and in late winter and spring you can see migrating whales. Read our blog – Mimosa’s Coastal Quartet, for more information.

From Tathra, follow Andy Poole Drive across the Bega River and Mogareeka and follow the Tathra-Bermagui Road. Turn right onto Nelson Lake Road and follow the signs to Nelson Beach. The beach is a 100m walk from the car park.
