Merimbula’s offerings include an opportunity to paddle and do lunch. Paddle from Spencer Park or Fishpen to the Top Lake Boat Hire & Sunset Kiosk. In Summer, look out for the Coastlife Adventures and Merimbula Stand Up Paddle Lessons & Tours at different locations around Merimbula Lake.
Freshwater paddling can be found at Brogo Dam, which is bordered by Wadbilliga National Park. For fishers, the dam is famous for big bass, and is also stocked with trout.
Kayak hire is available year round from Top Lake Boat Hire and Fishpen Charters in Merimbula, Bermagui Bait and Tackle, or join an experienced guide at Kiah Wilderness Tours for a small group tour at your own pace.
Browse our interactive map of boat ramps for places to launch your own kayak, there are 9 boat ramps between Bermagui, and Wonboyn. If the boat ramp is busy, there will be a quiet place nearby where you can slip into the water.
Family owned and operated for 22 years, Fishpen Charters are a haven for water sports on Merimbula Lake and out on the deep blue.
You can hire Stand Up Paddle (SUP) boards as well as Sit on Top Kayaks from the picturesque jetty and boat shed at Fishpen. From there you can explore pristine Merimbula Lake and nearby beaches

Top Lake Boat Hire & Sunset Kiosk
Top Lake Boat Hire & Sunset Kiosk is nestled on the shores of Merimbula Lake, on the western end of the Merimbula Lake Boardwalk.
It has wonderful access to flat waters of the lake, and a fleet of kayaks, motor boats, pedal boats for hire, (along with fishing gear and bait).
The kiosk also has stunning sunset views, is licensed and open for breakfast, lunch and tapas.
Kayak, SUP & boat hire at Bermagui Bait and Tackle
Explore Bermagui River on a hired kayak, SUP or boat from Bermagui Bait and Tackle.
Open from 6am – 6pm, hire costs $15 per hour.
The Bermagui River is a beautiful estuary to explore, and if you want to drop a line to catch some dinner Bermagui Bait and Tackle is also a one stop shop for all your fishing needs and up to date advice, including fuel, ice, bait and smallgoods.

Nature at your own pace….Kiah Wilderness Tours offers small group kayak tours on the beautiful Towamba River, just south of Eden.

An estuary that wanders through stunning forests and green pastures, the river winds its way to Twofold Bay. It is pristine and quiet, with an impressive diversity of both bird and marine life. Each sit-on-top kayak is kitted with a pair of binoculars so you can check out the wildlife up close along the way.
Tours are tailored for a maximum of six people, crafted to suit your experience and abilities and designed to allow you time to enjoy the wilderness. You can request time out for a swim, photography shoot, or to cast a lure. Morning or afternoon tea in the form of plunger coffee and freshly baked goodies is served on one of the many sandy beaches on the river’s edge.
No experience is necessary as the kayaks are designed for easy paddling. Guides are accredited through Australian Canoeing / Paddle NSW.
