Cobargo Folk Festival

The three day event is widely described as the best little folk festival in the country. Over 200 performers and thousands of fans from all over Australia converge on the picturesque village of Cobargo to celebrate and share a love of music & performance.
Camping and amenities are provided for ticket holders and kids are well catered for with a range of musical activities, stories and craft.

Saturday 2nd March, 2019 - Saturday 9th March, 2019

Running annually since 1979, the Eden Amateur Fishing Club Inc. is proud to host the 2019 Eden Fishing Competition. Keen fisherman from all across Australia travel to the area to fish this great comp and in 2019 there will be $40,000 in prizes and draws. The competition in 2019 will run from March 2nd to March 9th.
Entries can be made before or on any day of the competition at the Eden Amateur Fishing clubhouse, Quarantine Bay between 7am and 7pm.
Fish may be weighed in 3 hours after entering the competition. In the event of an equal weight fish, the first recorded fish will win the prize. Heaviest of each species listed, uncleaned, to be awarded the winning prize.
There will be a free BBQ supplied prior to the presentations.
The competition is divided into 4 sections
OPEN – anyone may enter- entry fee $40. Major prize is a boat, trailer and motor package. 24 species are targeted with the top weight for each species receiving a $400 prize.
LADIES – only ladies may enter – entry fee $20. 16 species are targeted with the top weight in each species receiving a prize of $200.
BOYS and GIRLS SECTIONS – for children under 16 years of age – entry fee $5. 15 species targeted. All winners receive a trophy and a $50 voucher to be spent at Eden Outdoors and Marine.
Merimbula Cup Race Day

Take advantage of the free buses and view the racing action from the large, banked lawn, members reserve or function centre. There’s also refreshments, TAB, local and interstate bookies.
Ten race meetings are held during the season with jockeys and trainers coming from all over south eastern NSW and East Gippsland to compete.

Stroll amongst the unique and inspiring outdoor sculptures on Dickinson Point headland and foreshore whilst the imaginative indoor works are curated in the nearby Bermagui Community Centre, to enable their appreciation out of the elements.
Travel the Trail of Light and Sound from the indoor opening ceremony to the headland, join conversations with artists at the Artist’s Symposium at the Country Club and enjoy live music with a picnic and fire spectacle at the Closing Ceremony. All with the spectacular Bermagui coastline as the backdrop.

Bemboka Show

Cattle and poultry exhibits are also a feature of the Bemboka Show and in the main arena a broad range of show jumping and other equestrian events can be seen.
There is always plenty of entertainment, competitions such as wood chopping and dog jumping, old cars and historic farm machinery displays, plus a range of children’s games and activities.
Come along and join in the friendly atmosphere, enjoy good food and much more that all together makes a great country show in a great setting.
EAT Merimbula

In the hands of Matt Crossley of Wild Rye’s Baking Co, Pambula’s famous Rock Oysters become the hero ingredient in a tasty new pie featured at Eat Merimbula 2018
March 10, 2019

EAT Merimbula is a premium foodie providore event held on the foreshore of Fishpen Merimbula, overlooking pristine waters and working oyster leases.
The event features local chefs and restaurateurs gathering in a market style setting to create bespoke dishes featuring local produce. The dishes are presented in entrée sizes and prices capped at $8 per dish.
In 2018, local offerings included tempters like steamed pork boa buns, a Balmain Bug Brioche, slow cooked brisket, craft beer, oyster harvested only metres away, Eden Mussel pies, local stone fruit crepes, 12 hr fermented artisan donuts and much much more…
The event will enter it’s seventh year in 2019, with growing demand from visitors seeing more and more vendors participating each year. A road closure will be in place this year providing a refreshed layout and more elbow-room for guests.

The Inaugural Merimbula Billfish Tournament
Thursday 21st March, 2019 - Sunday 24th March, 2019
Anglers are invited to to undertake the challenge of fishing for one of the ocean’s greatest icons, the Billfish. This inaugural Merimbula tournament, hosted by Merimbula Big Game and Lakes Angling Club will offer prizes in excess of $6,000 over various categories, including the Highest Point Score Marlin over 150kg.
The event will run over three days with trophies and prize presentations awarded on Sunday 24th March 2019. There will be plenty of opportunity to socialise over the day’s catch with a BBQ on Saturday night and the Clubhouse bar open each evening.

Four Winds Easter Festival

At the heart of the Four Winds Festival are two full days of music presented on the venue’s main stage, its iconic 2,000-person capacity Sound Shell amphitheatre. The Candelo Village Festival is a biennial celebration of the village culture and the Arts in Candelo.
In 2017 the festival took a new shape with considerable changes to the format of the years gone by.
Music, Theatre, Local Forums and Literary events will be held in the town hall over the entire weekend of 26-28 April.
The Community Hall will play its role as a vibrant cultural hub and be the primary venue for the festival audience this year.
Fine food will be available throughout the park and village all weekend.
Camping will be available onsite this year and proceeds will go to supporting and maintaining the community park.

Malibu Surfing Competition

The Malibu Surfing Competition is an annual surfing event held in Merimbula. It is a one-day Malibu surf spectacular with surfers surfing through a virtual gauntlet to reach the finals and great honours.
The Malibu event is an open, double elimination event with trophies and prizes for the six finalists and for each of the categories of women’s, juniors, local, men’s, masters, veterans, legends and of course the dead set-legends!

Merimbula Jazz Festival 2019

Jazz lovers adore this seaside festival, celebrating music across 3 days with hundreds of musicians and performers and in 2019 it will see in it’s 39th year!!
The festival was born in 1980, during an impromptu Sunday afternoon gig at Merimbula’s Fishpen, the next year it began in earnest and now includes all styles of jazz from traditional, ragtime, big bands, swing, mainstream, modern and funk.
Features of the weekend are the Jazz Street Parade and Concert, Saturday night Jazz Quest and the late night jam session which has the town rocking until well into the wee hours. This year the ‘Jazz Hatters’ free concert will be held on Monday 10th June with the venue to be confirmed closer to the time.
Tathra MTB Enduro

It’s a mountain biking odyssey that captures the best of the beaches, forests and mountains with a rare opportunity to race along the coastline on a mix of forest roads, double track and secret stashes of single track deep in the heart of the coastal wilderness.

Sapphire Coast Week of Golf

The Week of Golf in October has been held for more than 35 years and is now an iconic amateur golfing event in Australia.
Held annually in the third week of October, the Week of Golf is widely regarded as one of the best tournaments for golfers. Visitors come from every state of Australia and several from overseas countries.
The event should be on every golfer’s calendar, with approximately 800 golfers playing a variety of competitions in a tremendously friendly, carnival atmosphere. The festivities include a 9 day tournament for both men and women, featuring the Men’s Annual Open Tournament played over 36 holes on the last weekend.
Eden Whale Festival

Whales play on the Sapphire Coast.
It’s an oceanic migration like no other, and Eden has been an important part of it for centuries.
Celebrate the Humpback Highway with sightings from sea and shore, performances, exhibitions and music, and feast on local produce while whales play in Twofold Bay.
Held in and around the port, the festival embraces our maritime and bush heritage and celebrates with a huge party and fireworks on the Saturday night.
It’s the most unique whale watching experience the nation has to offer, and one that Australian Geographic ranked number one for whale watching destinations in Australia in 2014.
The whales can be seen in large numbers in the town’s stunning Twofold Bay, whether you are in a boat or on shore with a picnic of local produce.

The Merimbula Classic

The Merimbula Classic is a SUP-Kite-Windsurf event like no other. Its a 4 day celebration of wave sailing, SUP surfing and kite surfing in the wind and waves of The Sapphire Coast. There’s no heats, no judging tent and certainly no coloured rashies. Just a long weekend of paddling, hanging out and having a good time.
Watch current and past world and Australian champions mix it with the locals on the beach and check out all the latest gear at Ford Oval, which lies just behind the dunes.

Australian Bowls Championships 2019

The Australian Championships, one of the country’s premier bowling events, will again be held at Club Sapphire, Merimbula this December. The tournament will run over four days, from December 2nd to 5th and will showcase some fabulous bowls action at this world class venue.

Each year over 400 people jump into the crystal blue waters from the historic Tathra Wharf and swim to the beach to celebrate Wharf to Waves.
The swim claims centre stage of a weekend of fun and fitness in Tathra, which includes a 2km Beach Fun Run and a Bega to the Beach 30km Mountain Bike Ride.
The weekend culminates with volunteers, competitors, sponsors and friends sitting back on the deck while taking in the stunning vista of Tathra Beach.
There will be lots of rides and games to keep the children amused too!
Blue Water Classic
Saturday 25th January, 2020 - Monday 27th January, 2020
Head to the NSW Sapphire Coast for the annual Bermagui Blue Water Classic game fishing tournament over the long weekend in January. A NSW Game Fishing Sanctioned Tournament, competitors who sign up for the tournament will also be chasing other fish such as shark, kingfish and tuna, in the waters north or south of Bermagui.
With a number of tournament trophies and prizes on offer, there really is something for everyone. The prize list is extensive with various categories in the tag and release sections as well as the capture. Prize categories include marlin, other game fish such as yellow fin tuna and shark, junior and lady angler categories, most meritorious, as well as a small fry section and a lucky angler prize.
