Snorkelling for kids

Bookings are open for a guided snorkel tour with the Sapphire Coast Marine Discovery Centre.

Here is your chance to slip beneath the surface of Merimbula Lake and meet with the creatures that live below. The lake is a great place to learn how to put on flippers, a mask and snorkel and get used to the feeling of breathing underwater. Your guides are experienced Discovery Rangers and qualified snorkel instructors from the Sapphire Coast Marine Discovery Centre in Eden.

There are two sessions daily, lasting for 1.5 hours. Cost $40. Graded EASY. Bookings (02) 6495 5000.

Take a boat trip across Twofold Bay to visit the historic Davidson Whaling Station, the whaler’s home Loch Garra and explore the mouth of the Towamba River. Discover the ‘Law of the tongue’ and the fascinating partnership between wild orca and man.

Join your Discovery Ranger to say good night to the animals who roam by day and hello to those who awake at night! Use a spotlight to look for possums, frogs, moths and more.

Bournda Paddle

Join Discovery Rangers for a canoe trip on beautiful Bournda Lagoon. Keep your eyes peeled for kingfishers on the wing and water dragons on the banks as we cruise along one of the most picturesque waterways of the Sapphire Coast.

South East Forests National Park

Bemboka South East ForestsFollow the trails of the postmen and the cattlemen who travelled the rugged tracks of the Sapphire Coast hinterland. Stop at beautiful swimming holes, take a walk at Six Mile Creek, have lunch at Alexander’s Hut all the while taking in the tranquility of the beautiful South East Forests National Park.

Climb a light house with the keeper

Climb to the top of Green Cape Light Station with a keeper and take in the panoramic views of a spectacular coast. The Green Cape peninsular is a marine wildlife hot spot, as it is Australia’s second most eastern point and a meeting place for ocean currents. On shore there are lots of wombats, wallabies and shore birds to look for too.
