Catch the sunrise from a headland

Camping at Pambula.

There’s over 400 kilometers of foreshore on the Sapphire Coast so you can imagine the views from the headlands. Sunrise is just before 6am give or take a few minutes, so get moving and see the world wake up in our beautiful unspoilt coastal wilderness. It’s golden experience that will shape your day.

Look for the steamy plumes of whale spouts, shooting up in a V-shape from the waves.  Scan the waves near shore for pods of dolphins on their morning patrol, especially at Tathra where they’ve been seen surfing waves a lot recently. Look skyward for eagles, especially at Bermagui’s Blue Pool where there’s a nest nearby.

Great wilderness spots are Bermagui’s Murunna Point, Tathra’s Wajurda Point Tura Beach Headland, North Head and Green Cape (near Eden). Each offer short walks and nearby national park experiences.

To be within cafés head to Dickinson Point (Bermagui), Tathra Headland and Wharf, Merimbula Wharf or Eden Lookout.
