DESCRIPTION
The combination of ocean beaches, creeks, lagoons and the expansive waters of Wallagoot Lake make Bournda National Park a most appealing area. While the park is well serviced with camping and recreational facilities, its natural environment remains unspoiled.
Of the park's natural features, the wetland areas around the mouth of Wallagoot Lake stand out. These provide valuable habitat for a range of both local and migratory waterbirds in addition to playing a vital role in protecting the fish and prawn nursery grounds for which the Lake is well known.
Alongside these areas there also occurs a sand bar which provides a nesting site for the endangered little tern. The site is fenced to protect the birds from disturbance and visitors to the area (adjacent to the Wallagoot Lake Boat Club) are requested not to disturb the birds in any way.

CAMPING INFORMATION
Camping is provided for at Hobart Beach on the southern shores of Wallagoot Lake. Facilities here include showers, toilets, a laundry and undercover area.
There are 63 sits available and bookings are required for Easter and Christmas holidays.
To book a site please write to the NPWS Merimbula Office, PO Box 656, MERIMBULA 2548 or drop into shop on the corner of Sapphire Coast and Merimbula Drives or phone (02) 64955001.
Your letter should include a stamped, self-addressed envelope and detail:
- the particular campground of interest
- the number of adults and children (please indicate age) in your group
- your preferred dates (maximum camping period 14 days with bookings over Christmas taken on a weekly basis only from Saturday to Saturday and for a minimum of 7 nights over Easter).
CAMPING FEES
Adults $8.00 per night
Children (5-15 years) $4.00 per night
Under 5 years FREE
PLUS a Park Use Fee of $7 per vehicle, per day is payable on top of the camping fees.
Self registration (on site) is available for outside of peak periods.
NPWS staff will then contact you regarding the availability or otherwise of campground sites for your requested dates and the amount owing. You will need to forward the appropriate sum to the NPWS Merimbula office in order to confirm your booking.

FACILITIES
Bournda Field Studies Centre is operated by the NSW Education Department to assist school and community groups to conduct field trips to Bournda and adjacent areas.

RECREATION
The diversity of water environments within Bournda National Park, combined with its extensive network of walking tracks, provides for a wide range of recreation activities.
Fishing, picnicking, canoeing, bushwalking, surfing, swimming, prawning, camping and birdwatching for example are all popular activities within the park.
Sailing, power boating and water skiing are also catered for on Wallagoot Lake. Visitors are invited to use the launching ramp at the Wallagoot Lake Boat Club for which the club charges a launching fee.
The NPWS Discovery Program runs over Easter and Christmas school holidays offering a variety of guided tours. Canoeing, bushwalking, spotlighting, bush tucker, sea cave walks and kids discovery.

LOCATION & ACCESS
Bournda National Park is located on the Far South Coast of New South Wales, Australia, approximately 440 kms south of Sydney, 245 km south east of Canberra and 640 km north of Melbourne.
The park convers 2305 ha of coastal land and is accessed via Sapphire Coast Drive from Tathra in the north and Merimbula in the south.
