2012 XV11 NAVY GEORGE BASS SURFBOAT MARATHON & DIAL BEFORE YOU DIG SURF SKI MARATHON
7 days, 7 legs and 190km's of the best coastline (Bateman's Bay to Eden) in Australia
This is the Longest, Toughest Surfboat Race in the world. The Navy George Bass Surfboat Marathon commenced in 1975 and surf ski's were added to the event in the 1990's. It is a truly unique experience for all competitors, friendships are made for life once you become part of the Bass family.
The course:
Day 1: Batemans Bay to Moruya, the first leg is a leisurely 27km cruise.
Day 2: Moruya to Tuross, this is the sprint day a mere 19Km
Day 3: Tuross to Narooma some 22Km
Day 4: Narooma to Bermagui a distance of 24Km
Day 5: Bermagui to Tathra, the big one 35Km
Day 6: Tathra to Pambula, 27Km
Day 7: Merimbula to Eden nominally 20 Km, with the finish line yet to be finalized race distance for this day may vary.

TATHRA CUP RACES AT SAPPHIRE COAST TURF CLUB
A day at the races can be a great day out for people of all ages. Whether you are fanatical about racing already, love horses or you enjoy a good day out with friends, we are confident you will enjoy your day at the Sapphire Coast Turf Club. Gates will open at 10.30am with the first local race at around 1pm.
The Sapphire Coast Turf Club runs FREE BUSES to the course on all race days from Eden, Pambula, Merimbula and Tura Beach and from Bega and Tathra. The buses also return to those centres after the last race. Bus times and pickup points will be posted on the website for all meetings.
Reserved seating is available in the Functions Centre at $5pp with its own bar, flat screen TVs and tote monitors and even its own bookmaker to take your bets. Great snack food and bar services will be operating and EFTPOS is available on site.

The situation grows tense when Victor vows to protect the sprightly scammer rather than rubbing her out, and finds himself the unwitting mentor to a young protégée. Most of the Australian music community were first introduced to Busby Marou with their inclusion on the
incredibly successful Finn Tribute album, "He Will Have His Way". Their version of "Better be Home
Soon" did a great job of gathering interest within the music industry, while their classic song writing and
live show had them making friends wherever they played.
After a stunning response from fans and media Busby Marou have had similarly good fortune in the live
arena selling out their first ever headline tour in July and scoring coveted support slots with Birds of Tokyo,
Pete Murray, K.D.Lang and Dolly Parton. They are also heading back out on the road on an even bigger
national tour in support of their brand new album which will take them to Merimbula's Club Sapphire on
January 7th, this time with their full band in tow.

KIDS FISHING WORKSHOP
Run by NSW Department of Primary Industries
Kids 8-14 years old are invited to come and learn to fish safely and responsibly.
Instructors are experienced volunteers and staff from the Department of Primary Industries.
The day runs from 10am - 2pm and involves fishing techniques, bag & size limits, fish handling for catch * release
COST: $40 per child and include:
Each child is receives a rod, reel, tackle box, shirt, cap, water bottle and sample bag to take home with them. A lunch and or morning/afternoon tea is also provided. At the end of the day, a quiz session, provides each child with a prize to take home, plus a certificate of achievement.

103rd ANNUAL PAMBULA SHOW
Who doesn’t remember the excitement of an annual country show? Come along and relive your childhood and share it with your children and grandchildren at the Annual Pambula Show on Saturday 14 January 2012. It will the 103nd show in 107 years.
Equestrian events start at 8.30am with six rings including showjumping. The woodchop competition starts at 11.00pm, the grand parade features vintage cars and there are art, craft, needlework, flowers, vegetables, photography, cooking and preserves exhibits in the Pavilion.
For the younger ones there is the animal nursery, Pirate Pete, face painting, alpacas, pony rides, sideshow alley and more.
A great event every year is the dog high jump – enter your dog for great prizes!
Tuck into great food from the canteen, have a cold beer or enjoy a quite cuppa with scones, jam & cream in the Pavilion tea room, or try some dutch pancakes, hot potatoes or the traditional fare in sideshow alley.
For those who like fast and furious entertainment motocross time trials featuring a big line-up of small bikes through to seniors start mid afternoon.

Live Local Acoustic (LLA) is an informal gathering of aspiring amateur, semi-professional and professional musicians which occurs on the fourth Sunday of each month at The Robbie Burns Hotel following the Wyndham Markets. The beautiful natural landscape, very relaxed atmosphere and appreciative audience make it the perfect setting for aspiring musicians to gain some stage experience. MAGIC MOUNTAIN’S "PLAYING FOR CHANGE" - AUSTRLIA DAY CELEBRATION
The “Playing for Change Foundation” is an international organisation which raises money to build schools and programs for developing countries to “inspire, connect along with bringing peace to the world through music”. For more information please see the foundations website www.playingforchange.org
“Playing for Change” will be providing a free concert on Magic Mountain’s “Rocka House Stage”, on the 26th of January (Australia Day) at 12pm until 4pm .Magic Mountain will open its gates at 10.00am as usual and tickets for rides will also be available.
The group consists of 10 Sydney based musicians aged 38-60+ years who all have volunteered their time to the foundation. The group includes 5 vocalists and the instruments include Guitar, Bass, Percussion, Keyboard, Rhythm and Jazz Guitar, Alto and Tenor Sax and Drums. The artists include Diane Hirlian (Vocalist), Diane has won the AMIA Wedding Band of the Year an unprecedented 5 times in the last 11 years. Mark Hopper (Vocalist & Blues Guitarist) a true music veteran who has played alongside ACDC and Billy Thorpe, The Aztecs and is a former member of the Choirboys. Pete Lanzon (Vocalist) who has supported many bands both here and overseas including: INXS, Misex, Flowers and Icehouse. They offer more than your average gig , with a combination of musical styles encompassing Jazz, Blues, Pop, Soul, Funk, Folk, Reggae and Rock. The concert will appeal to everyone’s taste, the music played will consist mainly of well-known covers with a few original tracks played as well.
Everyone is urged to come along to this great concert and support this fantastic cause, what better way to spend “Australia Day”! Donations can be made on the day or via their website.

NETHERCOTE SEASONAL PRODUCE MARKET
Nethercote’s first seasonal market of the year will be held at the historic community hall on Saturday
January 28th between 8 am and noon. It promises to be a fine summer treat for lovers of fresh and local
produce. As well as an abundance of salad, vegetables, and stone fruit, market-goers can stock up both
kitchen and garden. We’re selling organic meat, olive oil, local cheese, smoked fish, wine, eggs and
freshly baked bread as well as scrumptious cakes, ice cream, jams and pickles. We sell seeds,
seedlings, pot plants and trees, plus the sheep poo needed to keep them happy.
This hugely popular event is now a regular feature of the Nethercote community calendar, attracting
hundreds of enthusiastic buyers from miles around. They can shop then flop with cake and a great cup of
coffee or a BBQ breakfast, chilling in gorgeous surroundings to the music of Easy Street whose mellow
rhythms have become the sound of market. At 10am local chef Brian Ahern will, as usual, cook up a
storm, using local ingredients. The results will be on market-goers plate in minutes
Nethercote is strictly a growers market but the range of produce available and the number of stalls
continues to expand. Great quality and fair prices are assured. Shoppers are advised to bring big
baskets and come for the morning.
