Wednesday 1st June 2011 to Saturday 30th June 2112 BODY | FORM | SURFACE At exhibition Australian Pottery at Bemboka
We are a gallery featuring Australian pottery 1960s to date. This season we are contrasting the effect of flame on wood-fired works with the delicacy of porcelain and the bling of lustres and crystalline glazes. We have liberated a range of platters from the gallery drawers and one wall is devoted to teapots, mugs, etc.

Celebrate World Wetlands Day on Thursday February 2nd with a visit to our very own floodplain wetland, Panboola, on the southern edge of Pambula township. Visitors can explore the billabongs, marshes and saltmarsh by bicycle along the concrete pathways to the old racecourse, or watch for birds as you walk along mown pathways meandering through woodlands. Grab a copy of the new book produced by the Far South Coast Birdwatchers “Looking at Birds” to help with identification.
The entrance to Panboola on Bullara Street will be officially opened at 10.30am. The stone wall, ramp to Smith’s Lookout and wooden bridge were all funded by a generous philanthropic foundation and the work done by community members. Although the eagle sculpture has not been returned, a reward is still offered for information leading to its recovery.
Panboola is managed by a dedicated group of volunteers. Talk to a volunteer, hear some interesting presentations on “life at Panboola” and have a look around between 11am and 3pm on Thursday 2nd February, or visit http://thebegavalley.org.au/panboola.html to find out more. Donations to assist with the ongoing work of Panboola can be made at Bendigo Bank Pambula.

Friday 3rd February 2012 - Saturday 3rd March 2012 GENESIS - An exhibition at Bega Valley Regional Gallery
Genesis profiles the longevity of the Bega Valley Arts and Craft Society which, formed in 1946, has the distinction of being the first society of its kind founded outside Sydney. BVACS set a precedence of proactive appreciation of the visual arts through the introduction of a regular public exhibition program and the establishment of a community art collection. This, in essence, was the prelude to the eventual establishment of the Bega Valley Regional Gallery.
The exhibition features selected work from current members of the Bega Valley Art and Craft Society, hung alongside a ‘curator’s choice’ of work from the BVACS collection (which is stored and ministered by the BVRG.) While the collection isn’t extensive it does include some notable works including a number by Hilda Rix Nicholas (whose painting Bringing in the Sheep was loaned to the Bendigo Art Gallery for their Hilda Rix Nicholas: the man for the job exhibition in 2010) The BVRG regretfully does not have the gallery capacity to show the collection perpetually; indeed it has not been publically hung for some years. Genesis therefore, is a particularly important inclusion in the 2012 program. It is a timely reminder of both the provenance of art practice in the region and the abiding, dedicated aspiration of the community into the future.
Entry free, all welcome Gallery is open 10am-4pm Tuesday to Friday and 9am-12pm Saturdays. Bega Valley Regional Gallery Zingel Place Bega NSW 2550 Phone 02 6499 2187 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Friday 3rd February 2012 UNGUS UNGUS UNGUS - From 8pm
Sydney quartet, Ungus Ungus, Ungus will showcase their unique brand of "indefinably obscure" funk-pop fusion. With clear Frank Zappa inspirations, this progressive funk rock pop psychedelia outfit has been crafting a unique fusion of styles for three years. The band creates music that is at once accessible and challenging, familiar and weird. As explorative in their lyrically cryptic protest song writing as they are in their genre-defying, multi-directional and technically profound instrumental explorations, Ungus Ungus Ungus are dedicated purveyors of original music.

Saturday 25th February 2012 FOOTPRINT THEATRE presents STEELE RUDD'S "BACK TO THE OLD SELECTION" Adapted by Richard Fotheringham, directed by Lis Shelley
Premiering at the Cobargo Folk Festival on Saturday 25 February 2012, the show will tour to Pambula Town Hall on Saturday 3 March and to Candelo Town Hall on Saturday 10 March.
Set in a bark hut in 1886 at the end of the long Queensland drought, Steele Rudd's charming characters are played by a large and talented south east region cast including Karl Auer as "Dad Rudd", Jesse Tankard as "Dave Rudd", Robert Buck as "Dan Diehard", Blake Young as the irrepressible "Skinny McGahn", as well as regulars and newcomers from Footprint Theatre. Musical director Christina Mimmocchi from Sydney will be heading a folk music lineup at the Cobargo Show to provide some additional 1880's musical ambience in the show.
This is a new adaptation by Queensland playwright Richard Fotheringham and is not the same as the "On Our Selection" productions from the 1980s. Instead Fotheringham has returned to Rudd's original manuscript as the source, in line with Rudd's own desire to keep the characters "real" rather than rehashing the clichéd characters from the radio and film versions.
This drama/comedy will appeal to all ages, but especially those with a nostalgic bent for the good ol' days!
For more information on the show visit Footprint Theatre's website at www.footprint.org.au or call 6495 7160. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Live Local Acoustic (LLA) is an informal gathering of aspiring amateur, semi-professional and professional musicians which occurs on the fourth Sunday of each month at The Robbie Burns Hotel following the Wyndham Markets. The beautiful natural landscape, very relaxed atmosphere and appreciative audience make it the perfect setting for aspiring musicians to gain some stage experience. And it’s quite common for professional musicians passing through the area to drop in for an impromptu set. LLA has gained a reputation for the intimate musical experience it conjures up as players and audience come together as one big happy family over the course of the afternoon. Make a day of it, on the fourth Sunday of the month.
