Depart for Davidson Whaling Station, Ben Boyd National Park.

Arrive Davidson Whaling Station, Ben Boyd NP for NPWS Discovery Tour.
10min break (toilet facility at car park).

 

9:45am
Commence NPWS Discovery Tour with Rangers at Davidson Whaling Station. * (1hr 15min).
Of significant heritage value, the Davidson Whaling Station was the longest running shore-based whaling station in Australia and the last of its kind to close down. Three generations of the Davidson family operated from this point on the Kiah Inlet to hunt passing baleen whales with the assistance of a pod of Orca’s (Killer Whales) led by the infamous Orca leader, ‘Tom’. The site consists of the original cottage, surrounding gardens and the remains of the try-works. The talk covers all aspects of the station’s history.

15 min Morning Tea Break following completion of Whaling Station Tour.
Due to the isolation of Ben Boyd NP from any eating venues, clients are required to bring their own morning tea.

Depart Davidson Whaling Station for Boyd’s Tower.

 

11:30am
Arrive Boyd’s Tower Car Park.
5min break (toilet facility at car park).

 

11:35pm
Commence NPWS Discovery Tour with Rangers at Boyd’s Tower * (1hr).
Boyd’s Tower is of sandstone construction and was originally built to operate as a lighthouse, however, functioned predominantly as a watchtower for the shore-based whaling stations. It offers exceptional views of the south east NSW coastline as well as being an excellent vantage point for whale migration sightings. The talk provides interesting background history and stories connected with Boyd’s Tower as well as indigenous cultural significance of area.

Depart for Seahorse Inn, Twofold Bay, Boydtown.

 

1:00pm
Arrive Seahorse Inn for Lunch in the Seahorse Brasserie (1hr 40min).
Enjoy a sumptuous lunch overlooking a beautiful secluded beach and bay in a majestic heritage building surrounded by extensive gardens. The 5 Star Seahorse Inn in Boydtown is situated on the south side of Twofold Bay and has been newly renovated to restore the building to its original grandeur. Please note lunch is not incorporated into the charter tour cost and must be paid for by the clients at the venue, however, pre-booking for the group is essential and will be done by DBL.

 

2:40pm
Depart Seahorse Inn, Boydtown for Eden Wharf.

 

3:00pm
Arrive Eden Wharf. Completion of DBL Charter Tour.
