The Sapphire Coast has joined the call to celebrate Australia’s National Pie Day on 1 June - a day for Australians to celebrate the humble meat pie. And we're not stopping there. In partnership with some of our tastiest local foodies, we'll be celebrating National Pie Month on the Sapphire Coats for the whole of June. Join "Pie-Minister" celebrity chef and Bermagui local Paul West as he checks out what our "pie-ze" winning cafes & restaurants have been cooking up.
Visit Eat Drink Neighbourhood in the heart of Bermagui, and dig into their scrumptious 'Bermagui Beer and Steer Pie'. It's a celebration of all things local, featuring Bega Valley steak and kidney, Mountain View tomatoes, Wilde's Meadow garlic from Coolagolite and Dark Ale from Longstocking Brewery in Pambula.
It wouldn't be Pie Time without a visit to the High Lords of Pies, Wild Ryes Baking Co in Pambula. These folks are famous for their pies, breads and delicious assortment of baked goods, and this June they are honouring Pie Month with their 'Pambula Pierdro Pie', a Spanish themed pie featuring Bombala lamb, Millingandi herbs, Merimbula chorizo and of course a whole lot of local love.
Save room on your pie-tinerary for a visit to
Merimbula Wharf Restaurant to sample their creation, the 'Wharfie Pie'. It's an ode to their seaside location and chock ful of flathead, ling and
Eden mussels (with a Bega cheesy cauli crust).
